In November 2019, Operations Manager, Ben Chapple, travelled to Ghana, where he encountered an astonishing variety of West African wildlife. Here he describes his experiences, and explains why now could be the perfect time to travel to this remarkable country.

To keep spirits up, and to add a little ‘spice’ to our one outing for exercise per day, our office staff are doing a Lockdown Birdrace each week, during which we have 1 hour to go from our front door, on foot, to see as many species as possible on our own local patch, either alone or with partners, house mates or family.

Being one of the ‘older’ leaders for Naturetrek, it is always a privilege to co-lead tours with some eminent younger leaders and, in July 2015, on a Spitsbergen cruise, one happened to be Sara who I met face to face for the first time. However, as Report Manager I had been in constant contact with her since she joined the company six months earlier Website and Marketing Manager, so it was a pleasure to put a name to the face. 

Following the update from the Transport Secretary on Friday 17th September, we welcome the simplified rules for travel which come into effect on 4th October, and we keep a close eye on which countries appear on the Government’s Red list.
