Summary
For those who love both wildlife and cricket, this tour offers the opportunity to combine these two great passions. In early 2027, the England cricket team will be playing a Test series in Cape Town against the South African Proteas, followed by a set of One Day Internationals in Paarl and Bloemfontein. On this tour we include three One Day International matches, one in Paarl and two in Bloemfontein. For the remainder of the holiday - and hopefully buoyed by England's sporting success - we will explore the surrounding habitats and reserves in search of the birds and other wildlife of South Africa's western cape and the more arid landscape around Bloemfontein. We will go in search of such birds as Cape Rockjumper, Cape Sugarbird, Ground Woodpecker, African Penguin, Blue Crane and Bokmakierie and many others, and join night drives in Karoo Gariep Reserve in the hope of seeing Aardvark and Aardwolf. This holiday can be combined with our South Africa: Birds & Cricket (Test Match) holiday which precedes this tour (website tour code: ZAF16).

Grading
Grade A. This is an easy tour suitable for those with an average fitness level who enjoy cricket and birdwatching. Walks are on mostly gentle terrain, although it should be noted that it will be hot in the middle of the day, especially around Bloemfontein and our time at Karoo Gariep will include a couple of optional night drives and early morning starts.

We will be based in comfortable hotel and lodge accommodation for the duration of this tour. All rooms have private facilities.
- Food:
The holiday cost includes breakfasts and dinners from dinner on Day 2 to breakfast on Day 12. Lunches are excluded and you should budget for around £150 - £200 per person to cover these.
