Summary
The town of Kikinda in northern Serbia hosts one of the largest winter gatherings of Long-eared Owls anywhere in the world, with hundreds of birds roosting in trees throughout the town. This unique spectacle offers exceptional opportunities to observe these elegant owls at close range in an unusual urban setting. Based in Kikinda, this short winter break also explores the surrounding plains and wetlands of the Vojvodina region, where large numbers of wintering birds gather. Visits to key sites such as Carska Bara Nature Reserve and Kapetanski Rit provide the chance to see species including White-tailed Eagle, Pygmy Cormorant and flocks of geese and ducks. Combining an extraordinary owl spectacle with rewarding winter birding, this tour offers a fascinating introduction to the wildlife and landscapes of northern Serbia.
