Pinnacle Rock, Gálapagos Islands

Enjoy an annular eclipse with us in the Galápagos in January 2028. Bookings now open!

On the morning of 26th January 2028 we will witness a rare and exciting event – an annular eclipse of the Sun. This alignment occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Earth and Sun but, due to the relative distances of these celestial bodies, the Moon will not completely obscure the Sun but will instead appear to be surrounded by a ‘ring of fire’. The passage of the Moon across the disc of the Sun will take around 2 hours 50 minutes with the ‘annular stage’ taking a little over four minutes.

We have chartered both Beluga and Cachalote Explorer for these cruise dates, and anticipate the eclipse coinciding with the boats’ visit to Punta Carrion, Santa Cruz island. In addition to the spectacle of the eclipse, on clear January nights the dark skies above the our boats will be filled with stars, and the Milky Way will stretch across the sky from horizon to horizon. Being situated on the Equator, we will be able to see stars from the Pole Star in the north to the Southern Cross in the south!
