Breaking News from the Naturetrek Candelaria Reserve, Ecuador!

Almost two decades ago, we began investing our profits in protecting pristine cloudforest in the Ecuadorian Andes – safeguarding it from agricultural clearance and giving its inhabitant wildlife a future. Our vision was to create a continuous wildlife corridor linking Sangay National Park with Llanganates National Park, allowing animals – especially larger mammals – to move freely between them. In recent years, that vision became reality with the completion of the Naturetrek Candelaria Reserve, a wildlife corridor protected in partnership with Ecuadorian conservation charity EcoMinga.
And now, the moment we’ve been waiting for…
For the first time, we have video evidence that the corridor is working exactly as intended. Last week, EcoMinga ranger Luis Recalde (a former local poacher-turned-conservationist) – filmed a Spectacled Bear crossing both the Chinchín and Pastaza Rivers at the very heart of the corridor, travelling between the two national parks! Seeing this long‑term project come to fruition is hugely rewarding – but it’s only the beginning. We’re now expanding the corridor further through our neighbouring El Encanto and Río Cristal Reserves, aiming to protect an additional 9,000 acres of forest and wildlife for generations to come. We hope you enjoy the video!
This project is entirely funded through donations we make for every flight that we've booked since 2007. This phenomenal milestone was only made possible by you, our wonderful clients, choosing to travel with us, and for this we are incredibly grateful – especially to those of you that agreed to match our donation when you booked your holiday. Thank you!
