Suchit Basnet

Suchit was born in the eastern terai of Nepal and was educated at St Joseph's College in Darjeeling, where he specialised in science. After leaving college, he worked as a hostel superintendent in a high school in Kathmandu. He started his wildlife career as a full-time naturalist in Royal Chitwan National Park. Over the five years he worked there, he accumulated an invaluable knowledge of the region's flora and fauna, and joined Naturetrek's small team of Nepalese full-time naturalist and ornithologist tour leaders in 1994. Since then his great enthusiasm, cheerful and friendly disposition, together with an exceptional fluency in English have contributed to many successful Naturetrek holidays. Now ranked as one of the country's leading naturalists and ornithologists, Suchit leads many of our tours and treks in Nepal and India.
