Simon is a professional ecologist with 15 years' experience working within the conservation and ecology sector. An enthusiastic and experienced naturalist and birder, he is always delighted to have the opportunity to converse with like-minded people about the wonders of the natural world. Simon's interest in ornithology has inspired him to monitor and record birds throughout the UK and oversees, including launching the first bird-ringing station at Durlston NNR in Dorset, a site renowned as a migration hotspot. He is Survey Secretary for the Somerset Ornithological Society, and a devoted biological recorder, keen on recording anything from bats, moths, butterflies and plants to ancient trees. Simon is passionate about nature writing and has produced several published articles for magazines including British Wildlife, and he has travelled extensively through Africa, Asia and Europe in search of wildlife and adventure. He also enjoys spending time exploring his local patches around the Somerset Levels and Mendip Hills.
