Nick Boyd
Nick is a friendly and enthusiastic naturalist from Oxford with particular expertise in birds. He is passionate about making nature accessible to people from all backgrounds, adults and children alike. He co-founded the Oxford Poetry Library's 'Lost Words' wildlife and poetry workshops, and has led tropical wildlife tours for 'WOW Borneo' in Indonesia. He hopes to raise awareness of the natural world as a means to conserve and protect it.
Nick has broad experience working on biodiversity monitoring and conservation projects internationally, presently working as an ecological consultant in sites across England and Wales. His bird monitoring efforts in Oxford's Boundary Brook Nature Reserve have featured on BBC Countryfile. He has contributed to several scientific papers on ornithology and biodiversity in Borneo's lowland forests, including documenting the first Indonesian sightings of the cryptic (and then-undescribed) Spectacled Flowerpecker. While a birder first and foremost, his endless curiosity and natural aptitude for species identification have led him to develop expertise in other groups including plants, butterflies and orthoptera.
