Martin Batt

Fascinated with nature all his life, Martin finally took the plunge in 2010 to leave the world of banking and sustainable development, taking up the new role of Nature Tourism Manager for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.  He established the Yorkshire Nature Triangle as a new destination, and then moved to Alderney, as Living Islands Manager, responsible for developing heritage and wildlife visits to this tiny island off the coast of Normandy.  Naturetrek took up his recommendation to include Alderney on its regular tour programme in 2015, and he led the first few tours there.  Since moving back to North Devon, Martin has become vice-chairman of the North Devon Coast AONB, and is currently working with Devon Wildlife Trust on the creation of a new estuarine nature reserve at Horsey Island, near his home in Braunton.
