Lucila, affectionately known as Lucy, is an experienced and passionate naturalist guide hailing from the Madre de Dios region of Peru — an area renowned for being one of the richest biodiversity hotspots on the planet. Growing up surrounded by the lush rainforests and extraordinary wildlife of the Peruvian Amazon, Lucy developed an early fascination with nature that shaped her life’s path.
With over 15 years of professional experience, Lucy has dedicated herself to the study, interpretation and conservation of South America’s extraordinary ecosystems. Her deep knowledge spans a wide range of flora and fauna, with a particular focus on understanding animal behaviour, habitat dynamics and the vital importance of protecting endangered species.
Since 2014, Lucy has brought her expertise to the Brazilian Pantanal, where she first took on the role of manager at a prestigious lodge, overseeing operations in one of the most important wildlife tourism destinations in the world. Over the years, she transitioned into guiding, leading exclusive wildlife and photography groups eager to experience the wonders of the Pantanal through her expert eyes!
In addition to her extensive work in Brazil, Lucy has maintained a strong connection to her roots in Peru, where she continues to work in the Amazon rainforest, sharing her profound understanding of tropical ecosystems with travellers, researchers, and conservationists alike.
Lucy’s passion for environmental education drives her to share her knowledge generously, aiming to inspire respect and care for biodiversity among all those she guides.
