Dick Lock

Dick Lock is a lifelong wildlife enthusiast whose passion for nature began at an early age in the Netherlands. He went on to study Ecology and Wildlife, followed by Animal Management with a major in Wildlife Management and a minor in Adventure Tourism, enabling him to shape his life around the ideal combination of wildlife, adventure and tourism.

Since the age of 18, Dick has been exploring Suriname, a country that quickly captured his heart and where he has lived full time since 2017. He is the co‑founder of several nature‑focused initiatives and the co‑owner of Sutopia Resort, located in Commewijne just outside Paramaribo.

Dick is a highly respected wildlife guide and is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading herpetology specialists. While reptiles and amphibians are his principal area of expertise, he is first and foremost an all‑round guide with a broad and in‑depth knowledge of Suriname’s wildlife and ecosystems. He also has a strong passion for wildlife videography and photography, using visual storytelling to bring nature closer to people.

Known for his boundless enthusiasm and infectious energy, Dick excels at inspiring others, and his extensive experience consistently adds significant value to any tour.
