Bastien Zanette
Bastien Zanette is a wildlife biologist with a strong grounding in field ecology and biodiversity monitoring. Raised in the French Alps and the Jura region, he developed an early familiarity with mountain and forest ecosystems, shaped by extensive time spent outdoors and an early enthusiasm for wildlife observation — particularly birds, whose presence and vocalisations accompanied much of his time in the field.
He trained in ecology and environmental management, and has worked across both research‑oriented and applied projects focused on biodiversity assessment, monitoring and impact evaluation. His experience includes field surveys, species monitoring and ecological data collection and analysis, always with an emphasis on methodological rigour and practical applicability.
Bastien works extensively with field‑based monitoring tools such as camera traps and passive acoustic recorders, and has a particular interest in linking field observations with structured datasets. Although birds remain a central taxonomic focus, his approach is deliberately broad and rooted in an ecosystem‑level perspective.
His ecological practice is closely connected to outdoor sports in natural and mountainous environments, strengthening his ability to operate in remote areas, adapt to variable field conditions and sustain long days in the field. This contributes to a pragmatic, terrain‑driven approach to ecological work.
