Alan Tilmouth

Alan has had a lifelong interest in nature and birds, sparked by roaming the hills and beaches of his home county of Northumberland as a boy, and he has been an active birder for 37 years. Since 2009 he has worked in a variety of ornithological roles, guiding small groups and working as a freelance ornithological surveyor on a wide range of projects across the UK. He has also long been part of the news team for the UK’s leading bird news provider.
Alan has had numerous articles published in Birdwatch magazine. Always birding – as he says, “it’s not something you can switch off” – he also serves as bulletin editor for his local bird club and has been a member of the Northumberland County Records Committee.
