Our second day trip with Naturetrek in the UK. We were very fortunate to have Ben Chapple as our guide, he is superb. His knowledge of the natural world is immense, he is friendly and is excellent company. We had a great day and enjoyed visiting a part of London that we were unfamiliar with.

Summary
Walthamstow Wetlands represents London’s largest urban wetland nature reserve. Consisting of 10 large reservoirs (as well as a variety of other habitats), it not only provides water to 3.5 million Londoners but also supporst an impressive wealth of wildlife. In spring, some of the wintering wildfowl should still be present, while breeding species include Tufted Duck, Little and Great Crested Grebes, and Grey Heron. Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, Little Egret and Peregrine are regular, as are secretive species such as Water Rail. At this time of year, a variety of passage migrants is also possible, so there’s always the chance of something out of the ordinary! Please do join us for a day at this oasis in the heart of urban London. The day will be led by Samuel Levy, starting at 10:00am from the Walthamstow Wetlands car park.
