Many thanks to Nick and Caroline for an absolutely wonderful day of bird watching. We were so lucky with the weather, the birds, the company, and especially, the leaders! There were so many high points, I really can't begin to choose my favourite!

Summary
Joining our expert naturalist, we will begin our day at RSPB Burton Mere, the gateway to the Dee Estuary. Here the mosaic of freshwater wetland habitats, mixed farmland and woodland is teeming with wildlife, and a walk around the reserve could yield egrets, Spoonbill, Pink-footed Goose and many waterfowl species. Greenshank and Spotted Redshank are amongst the waders we can spot as well. This afternoon, once we’ve had our fill at Burton Mere, we will head to Parkgate, a fantastic spot where we can watch bird migration in action (March, April, October and November). Huge numbers of birds move up and down the estuary, and we should enjoy great views of Avocet, Wigeon, Teal, perhaps both Marsh Harrier and Hen Harrier, and there is the possibility of a rarity such as Water Pipit turning up too. Please note that the cost of entry to RSPB Burton Mere is not included in the cost of this Day Trip and must be paid locally (entry is free to RSPB members and £7 for non-members).
- Pink-footed Geese and Spoonbill possible amongst numerous wildfowl at Burton Mere
- Watch the migration in action at Parkgate on the Dee Estuary (March, April, October and November)
- Good chance of Marsh Harrier
