Having grown up near the Gower in Swansea, Dan has a huge passion for coastal wildlife with birds being a particular fondness. Her career has varied from breeding some of the rarest wildfowl during her time at the WWT, to teaching schools on wildlife. She currently works as a wildlife presenter for BBC Radio Wales and BBC Countryfile, whilst also being a published author with her book ‘How to attract birds to your garden’, 2020 DK Books being a Best Seller on Amazon.
If being an author and presenter is not enough, Dan is also a consultant ornithologist having conducted surveys for NRW and RSPB and also partakes in a number of citizen science projects. She also now has a rewilding and re-naturalising project in the Gower and Bridgend working with farmers, landowners and businesses to attract and care for a range of species.
Outside of work, Dan loves nothing more than sitting and enjoying watching waders and wildfowl – and a fair warning, she will talk for hours!
