Hailing originally from Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Teixeira is a 44-year-old, university-trained biologist with 20 years guiding experience, leading wildlife tours and photo safaris in the savannas and Pantanal regions of Brazil.

Rafael has guided many groups, notably at the Wolf Camps in the 1.7-million-acre Parnaíba River Headwaters National Park and in the Northern Pantanal.

For years, Rafael has been an instructor for local guides at Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. So far, he has taught more than 600 young guides in the art of leading birding tours, botany tours, and photo tours. To date, Rafael has guided hundreds of guests in more than 300 Jaguar sightings and 100 sightings of Maned Wolves.

Guests enjoy the Rafael’s easy, calm guiding style, and he consistently earns the highest praise. In addition to Rafael’s great knowledge in birds, botany, and photography, he also is very knowledgeable on history and culture of all of Brazil.
