TL James Bray

James Bray was born in London and has been interested in wildlife - and birds in particular - all his life. He works for the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) in Scotland where he spends much of his time carrying out fieldwork in the upland areas of Scotland for BTO research projects. When not walking up and down hills he also runs bird survey training courses for the BTO's volunteers in Scotland. Since escaping from his 'day job' work in the world of pensions, James has managed a 3-month research expedition in Tanzania to study coastal forest birds and mammals, and worked for the RSPB in the Peak District. He has travelled extensively in Europe and, having become hooked on the culture and wildlife of Africa, has spent over 12 months in the field there during the past few years, where his field experience has included birdwatching in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Lesotho.
