Growing up, Holly's front door opened right onto a nature reserve, in which she enjoyed walking her dog daily. She was fortunate to see a variety of species including Otters, waterfowl and such butterflies as Marbled White and Gatekeepers. This is where her love for wildlife began! Whilst reading Tourism Management at Bournemouth University, she used a placement year to volunteer at Kruger National Park in South Africa. Here she monitored Africa’s ‘Big 5’, collecting information to assist the conservation of these species and to protect them from such threats as poaching and habitat loss. She also journeyed to Cape Town, navigated the ‘Garden Route’ and visited Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia. As a result of this experience, she chose to focus her dissertation on the exploitation of captive big cats through 'selfies' on Instagram. All of this knowledge and her experiences, she says, have influenced Holly’s desire to work for a responsible wildlife company like Naturetrek!
