Emily Richens – Tailormade Consultant

Emily has recently joined our expanding Tailormade team. Her role involves creating exciting and unique itineraries to fulfil the wishes of clients who have specific interests, or simply prefer to take the road less travelled.

Life Before Naturetrek

Growing up, Emily spent many family holidays either on long road trips or camping and she has always sought new adventures, both at home and abroad. Wildlife has always been central to these travels, but she has a broad range of interests and relishes any opportunity to learn more about a region’s history, geography and culture. Her trips have included scuba diving in a cenote in Mexico’s Yucatan province, touring New Zealand and bird-ringing at Alderney Bird Observatory.

After her Zoology degree at Bristol, Emily spent 6 months in South Africa’s Limpopo region where she studied Dwarf Mongooses for her Master of Science by Research. During this time, she became well acquainted with the mongoose families as well as plenty of other local wildlife including Mozambique Spitting Cobras, hornbills and numerous herbivores (rhinos being one of her favourites!).

In 2020 Emily moved to the Scottish Highlands where she worked as a wildlife guide for 3 years. Always happiest outdoors, she has delighted in showcasing some of the best wildlife spots Scotland has to offer and sharing these experiences with her guests, as well as sniffing out some good foodie areas! Outside of work she is a keen birder, rower and hiker. Her dream is to go to Antarctica and she has an expanding list of peaks to climb.
