Summary

On 2nd August 2027, a total eclipse of the Sun will occur across southern Spain, and this exciting tour will put us right in the best place to see it! In addition, we will enjoy the very best of the region’s wildlife. The Strait of Gibraltar is just 14 km wide, providing a host of migrating birds with an ideal point to cross the Mediterranean. We’ll arrive during the peak of the autumn migration and make short excursions each day to scan the skies for raptors and other migrating birds by means of gentle walks or sitting in the sun! Weather permitting we’ll head out to sea to look for whales and dolphins in the Strait of Gibraltar by boat.

  • Autumn raptor migration in full swing: thousands of White Storks and Black Kites crossing The Straits of Gibraltar
  • Northern Bald Ibis, Slender-billed and Audouin's Gull, Greater Flamingoes and an array of waders
  • White-headed Duck, Marbled Duck, Red-knobbed Coot, Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin all possible
  • Boat trip for Long-finned Pilot Whales, Common, Striped and Bottlenose Dolphins and (with luck) Orca and Sperm or Fin Whales
