Summary
With an estimated population of over 600 Eurasian Lynx, Estonia is a country that can provide a realistic opportunity for mammal-seeking enthusiasts to observe this highly elusive yet enigmatic cat, the Eurasian Lynx. Visiting both Matsalu National Park in the west and Lahemaa National Park in the north of Estonia we will be afforded plentiful opportunities to go on spotlighting sessions in the ancient forests and open meadows where this incredible feline roams, along with a variety of other mammals species. Sessions during the early morning, early evening, and through the night into the early hours will provide us with the very best chances of locating Lynx, Eurasian Elk, Raccoon Dog and Golden Jackal. During the day, when the chance of a mammal encounter is much lower, we hope to find the many birds that breed here, including up to six species of woodpecker, a variety of warblers and birds of prey. We will also have one night in a hide for Brown Bears plus a unique opportunity to find the delightful Siberian Flying Squirrel! Our first morning of this superb holiday will be include a short city tour of the picturesque capital city of Tallinn, where a cultural extension is highly recommended.
