Tom Mabbett – Operations Manager

Tom joined the Naturetrek Operations team back in March 2013 and since then has enjoyed leading over 50 tours around the world. He manages the operations of a range of different holidays from British breaks in the Forest of Dean and Somerset Levels to the wilds of Ardnamurchan in Scotland, along with various European tours across France, Italy, Portugal, Albania, Macedonia, Poland, Slovenia and Finland, amongst others. Further afield, he looks after our holidays to Brazil, Borneo and Guyana, spending time piecing together detailed itineraries from their wealth of fantastic possibilities. He has travelled extensively through these countries, searching for Jaguars in the Brazilian Pantanal and Clouded Leopard in Borneo, as well as exploring Guyana’s fabulous rainforests. Whether it is finding Hawfinch in the Forest of Dean, Wallcreepers in the Pyrenees or searching for Jaguars in the Pantanal, Tom loves any time spent in the field and regards being able to find and show our groups the fabulous local wildlife as a real privilege and thrill. Away from the office, he is happiest out in the field on his local patches around the Cotswolds and a lot of his time is now spent inspiring his children Max and Harry to enjoy the outdoors and our wildlife.

Life Before Naturetrek

Prior to joining Naturetrek Tom graduated in Biology, before travelling extensively around the world in search of wildlife and spending a lot of time SCUBA diving with too many sharks, rays, turtles, birds and mammals to mention! After a spell at the wonderful WWT Slimbridge reserve as grounds warden Tom moved to Naturetrek.
