Steven Wong

Steven Wong has a keen interest in herpetofauna and has been leading herpetological trips and night walks professionally for five years. Steven gained an interest in reptiles and amphibians as a child by watching documentaries such as the Crocodile Hunter hosted by Steve Irwin. He learned how to find reptiles and amphibians during a field course while studying at university and was able to hone his skills on personal 'herping' trips while camping with his father. He would then gain experience in guiding by leading night walks for members of the Malaysian Nature Society as the lead coordinator of the Herpetofauna Special Interest Group. In 2019, he had a career change where he left environmental consultancy to pursue nature guiding. Since then, he has led herping trips to destinations throughout Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak as well as Komodo Island, Indonesia.
