Summary
This relaxed and gentle-paced holiday offers the opportunity to experience some of Namibia's most remarkable wildlife from the comfort of a single, superbly located lodge. Based for eight nights at Okonjima Plains Camp, set within a vast private reserve between Windhoek and Etosha, we will enjoy a carefully balanced programme of optional activities focused on the reserve's celebrated conservation work and its extraordinary mammals, birds and other wildlife. Rather than spending long hours driving between destinations, we can immerse ourselves in one area, enjoying specialist tracking excursions, leisurely wildlife watching around the lodge's productive waterhole, and ample time to relax by the pool, in the lounge or on the reserve's self-guided nature trails.
Okonjima is perhaps best known as the home of the AfriCat Foundation and its pioneering research into Namibia's predators and other threatened species. During our stay we will have opportunities to track Leopard, Brown Hyena, Temminck's Ground Pangolin and White Rhinoceros alongside expert local guides and conservation staff, gaining unique insights into both the animals themselves and the important work being undertaken to protect them. Combined with day and night game drives, excellent birdwatching, comfortable accommodation and an optional extension to the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park, this tour offers a wonderfully relaxed introduction to some of southern Africa's most iconic wildlife and conservation success stories.
