Alison Steel – Operations Manager

Alison overseas the running of a range of tours, from UK breaks and Eastern Europe to Uganda, Papua New Guinea, Uzbekistan and New Zealand. This involves liaising with hotels, ground agents, other suppliers and tour leaders to ensure the correct arrangements and people are in place to deliver each tour departure, as well as coming up with solutions when situations change! She also works on developing new tours and periodically leads tours to a number of destinations, including Scotland, Uzbekistan, Indonesia and various European countries.

Life Before Naturetrek

Prior to working at Naturetrek, Alison studied Zoology at the University of Glasgow, using the summer holidays to travel and study some more exotic wildlife in places such as Ecuador, Indonesia and Cyprus. Following her degree course, she then spent a number of years as an outdoor pursuits instructor in Scotland, sharing her love of wildlife and the outdoors with her guests. She’d spend her holidays travelling to explore new destinations, including a trip to Iceland as a Naturetrek client! In her spare time she is involved with a local bird ringing group where she has had the privilege of getting up close and personal with some fantastic birds, including Ospreys and Kingfishers.
