We offer a selection of professionally organised, Jaguar watching holidays, offering chances to witness these enigmatic animals.

Naturetrek Jaguar Tours

The Jaguar is South Americas most iconic cat. Secretive and stunningly beautiful, seeing a Jaguar surely ranks among the worlds top 10 wildlife experiences. Naturetrek offers a dedicated Jaguar watching tour to Brazil - Just Jaguars! with a 100% success record to date, as well as a longer holiday to Brazil on which Jaguars may be seen.  Naturetrek groups have also seen Jaguars in Tambopata, Peru (Macaws and Machu Picchu) and in the Iwokrama rainforest in Guyana (Guyana - A Timeless Paradise), although sightings in both localities are less frequent than in the Pantanal.

Our Jaguar specialist recommends...

If you want a holiday dedicated to looking for wild Jaguars, you can’t do any better than Naturetrek’s ‘Brazil – Just Jaguars!’ tour. We’ve had some excellent sightings – Jaguars sitting beside a river, on a track and even swimming. For those who want to stay longer and explore a greater variety of habitats I’d recommend our 17-day ‘‘Brazilian Pantanal & IguazuFalls’ tour, though you’ll see a host of fantastic wildlife on both trips!

WHAT YOU'VE BEEN SAYING ABOUT OUR Jaguars

HOLIDAYS

Firstly, I want to say how brilliant Rafael is. His knowledge of mammals, birds, reptiles and plants is excellent, as is his knowledge of the areas we went to. He seems to have great relationships with the owners, managers and staff at the various places, too, which I'm sure gives his guests an advantage. He was also very diplomatic with the group, and I noticed how he made sure he spent time chatting with everyone. Lourival and his family were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The food (especially the puddings!) and accommodation were good, but seeing the wolves, macaws, marmosets and so many birds was fantastic. The two camps were lovely to stay in, and the scenery at the 'Cliff' camp was stunning. I loved it there. I'm so glad I upgraded to a suite - it was HUGE and very comfortable. We saw Jaguars! We saw them lurking in the undergrowth, and we saw them strolling along the river bank, seemingly oblivious to the boats following them, and to the onlooking photographers. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. And the Giant Otters, playing and fishing, were fascinating. And the hundreds of capybara - the babies are so cute! And all the birds. Our boat-driver, Alan, was superb. Very good at manoeuvring to give us all the best views, and an excellent Jaguar-spotter.
Andy Smith is an excellent tour guide...and always made sure we were comfortable wherever we were. The best part of the holiday was the boat trips. The local guides pointed out everything from snakes to caiman. We enjoyed the country, the people and the experience as a whole.
