Increasingly, yes. Air France, KLM and Emirates all offer regional departures from several UK airports (to Paris, Amsterdam and Dubai respectively). From these hub cities you switch aircraft for your onward flight to the final destination. Air France goes to Madagascar, Mali and Venezuela; KLM to Ecuador, Peru and others; and Emirates to India. We're very happy to organise regional flights with these carriers and others (including BA and Iberia). Please contact us for details.
Regional departures with direct flights are also widely available on our tours to Portugal (Faro), Catalonia (Barcelona), Canary Islands (Tenerife), Mallorca (Palma), Menorca (Mahon) and others. If there's a flight from your local airport to join up with one of our tours, and the flight times can be made to work, we are happy to book it for you, though there may be a small additional cost.
Each holiday is graded A to D. A is easy – for anyone; B is moderate – for anyone of any age used to some regular walking; C is fairly strenuous – for those with a measure of fitness or the unfit who are prepared to feel tired at times; D is tough – for the keen walker. These grades are not just based on the length of each day’s walk: the nature of the terrain, the altitude, and the overall length of trek are taken into account.
Yes we do. The cost is displayed on the tour itinerary for each individual tour, which can be downloaded from the relevant tour page under 'Tour Downloads'.
We regret that nearly all of the lodges and hotels we use charge single supplements, as they are usually small establishments needing to fill all beds. If you particularly want to have a single room, we are normally able to provide one for you at the supplement price listed for each tour. If you wish to share (to avoid the supplement) we can usually match you up with someone else of similar age and the same sex, also wishing to share. If we are unable to do this, we regret that the single supplement must be charged (though sometimes at a reduced, negotiated rate) unless your booking was received by us at least 6 months prior to the holiday’s departure. NB. We regret this offer does not apply to those booked on our bargain selection and long-haul holidays.

Payment related questions
Are flights included?
Our (non-UK) trips include external flights from London and any internal flights. The accommodation, meals, airport transfers and guides are also included. Any extra costs are outlined on the trip itineraries or you can contact us for more details. There is the odd exception where flights are not included, generally due to other transport being used, for example ferry travel or train travel. However, this will be clearly stated. A single room supplement, if required, is extra.
Is food always included in the holiday price?
Occasionally, the odd meal or night’s accommodation may not be incorporated into the tour price, for example, when you are in transit. A few of our holidays do not include lunches and evening meals. Any extra costs are outlined on the trip itineraries, or you can contact us for more details.
What’s included in the cost of UK trips?
For most of our UK trips, travel to and from the tour destination is not included in the tour cost. Lunches are not usually included either. The tour itinerary will clearly state what is included in the price for each individual tour.
Naturetrek is a fully bonded member of The Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) and holds an Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL), granted by the Civil Aviation Authority, guaranteeing the protection of all payments made to us for your holiday. Our licence number is ATOL 2962. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information, you can visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk. In addition, all our tours that do not include flights are protected by an ABTOT bond.

We operate the Naturetrek Loyalty Scheme. For those of you who travel on more than one overseas tour during the calendar year, after booking direct with us, we are pleased to offer a discount of 5% on each additional holiday. We regret, however, that neither the holidays from our ‘Bargain Selection’ (which are already heavily discounted) nor those tours in aid of wildlife charities qualify for the scheme.
Tour related questions
Any vaccinations needed for a particular tour will be listed in the pre-departure information sent to you after booking. The World Health Organisation produces a useful report on ‘International travel and health’ which can be downloaded from the WHO website.
The overwhelming majority of Naturetrek clients are non-smokers. To enable them to enjoy their holiday in comfort (and fresh air!), we insist that smokers refrain from smoking in the proximity of all other group members, and while watching wildlife, at all times. In particular, smoking in any confined space – whether in the lounge, dining room, minibus, bedroom (if shared with a non-smoker) or at any other group gathering – cannot be permitted. In signing our booking conditions you agree to accept these guidelines, and it is the right of all our tour leaders to dismiss from a tour any participant failing to respect them.
Our groups average about 10 - 12 people. However, they can range from as small as six people up to about 50 on our exclusive charter cruises.
