Beginners Botany in Shropshire (Day Trip)

Spend the day exploring the Welsh borders with ecologist Rob Mileto. We will focus on two botanical jewels in Shropshire’s crown, Lynclys Common and nearby Llanymynch Rock Nature Reserve, learning how to identify the flowers – and other wildlife – we find along the way.

Spend the day exploring the Welsh borders with ecologist Rob Mileto. We will focus on two botanical jewels in Shropshire’s crown, the Wildlife Trust's Llynclys Common and nearby Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve, learning how to identify the flowers – and other wildlife – we find along the way. Rob is a wonderful teacher and during the course of the day he will gently guide us on a walk of around 4 miles, pointing out the key features to look out for when identifying the UK’s diverse flora. More than 300 species of plant have been recorded in these two reserves, including Fairy Flax, Eyebright, Wild Thyme, Common Rock-rose, Cowslip, Devil’s-bit Scabious, Yellow-wort, Salad Burnet, a variety of orchids and many more.
