Wildlife Holidays in Syria
Tell me about Syria …
Syria has played a pivotal role in the Middle East’s turbulent history. It has been occupied by a formidable array of invaders, each keen to leave their mark, resulting in a country rich in archaeological sites.
Syria boasts such famous sites and cities as Damascus, the ancient city of Palmyra, the preserved Byzantine ‘Dead Cities’ & the beautiful Euphrates River.
The bird life of neighbouring countries such as Egypt and Israel has been well documented, but the attention of the bird watching world has only very recently focused on Syria, making this an exciting place to visit, and an exciting time for a bird watching tour as its avifauna becomes more widely recorded.
What’s special about its wildlife?
Its bird life is particularly interesting and offers a chance to see Palearctic rarities such as Bald Ibis and Iraq Babbler, as well as an excellent range of desert specialists and waterbirds.
