Measured by any criteria, India is one of the most exciting holiday destinations on earth. The abundant archaelogical reminders of the country's extraordinary history and the fascination of becoming immersed into a completely unique and complex culture are reasons enough to visit India, but for anyone interested in natural history the attractions of wild India are simply too great to resist. Colourful and diverse are two adjectives often applied to India and both perfectly describe the flora and fauna. The Indian sub-continent embraces an enormous range of habitats extending from the spectacular peaks of the Himalayas in the north, through forests, lakes and deserts to the moist Nilgiri hills in the south of the country where the shoreline is lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Within these boundaries occur over 350 species of mammal, nearly 1300 species of birds and 600 species of reptiles and amphibians plus a myriad of insects and flowers. Little wonder that many regard India as the ultimate wildlife destination.
No other British operator of natural history tours can claim the experience and expertise acquired by Naturetrek in over twenty years of showing our clients the wildlife of India. Always an important destination from the very earliest days of the company we have gradually expanded and refined our programme of Indian tours to the present level where we are proud to offer twenty three different holidays covering almost every aspect of Indian natural history. Within this range can be found botanical holidays in the high Himalaya, birdwatching quests for the endemic birds of the southern hills, photographic safaris and a variety of mammal tours which offer participants the opportunity to observe Bengal Tiger, Asian Lion and Asian Elephant along with many other exciting species. Another popular innovation has been the introduction of tours combining wildlife viewing with other themes such as our Wildlife and Cuisine tour in Kerala and the Temples and Tigers of Northern India. Whatever your particular tastes and interests we are confident that you will find something to meet your holiday requirements in the following list of Naturetrek Indian tours.
