This was Naturetrek's first Christmas Just Tigers so it was pleasing to enjoy success in terms of the primary objective: although Tiger sightings were not numerous, everyone in the group had views of tigers ranging from very good to outstanding, with several photo opportunities. There were also excellent views of Wild Dog, Sloth Bear, Jungle Cat, Gaur, four species of deer, three antelopes and Wild Boar as well as regular views of endearing Langur Monkeys and other small mammals. There was a good selection of colourful common birds – Peacocks, White-breasted Kingfishers, Indian Rollers, Racquet-tailed Drongos, Scarlet Minivets and others – and a full ornithological supporting cast from which the keen birders could select a personal favourite. Less tangible than lists of species was the quality of so many of the sightings and the prolonged views of the forests, meadows and other landscapes of one of India's most attractive national parks. In addition there was the incomparable Taj Mahal and other monuments and a rich slice of the sights, sounds and atmosphere of India in city streets, roads and stations. Hopefully everyone gained as much satisfaction, pleasure, and memories from the tour as they hoped.
